Stone Cold
David Baldacci
The Camel Club is quite an interesting group - each member having a unique talent, but all having common goals. They last made their appearance in The Collectors , which I enjoyed and reviewed previously. Baldacci wrote Simple Genius after that, which did not star the Camel Club. Much to my delight,
Stone Cold continues the odyssey of the Camel Club, with the addition of their honorary member, Annabelle Conroy, taking center stage.
Annabelle swindled Jerry Bagger out of $40 Million dollars, and not just for profit - he had murdered her mother. Baggers main objective is to do the same to Annabelle, but as the plot escalates a whole new threat comes to the Camel Club - their leader, Oliver Stone, discovers that men he has been involved with in his past, are being killed systematically. Will Oliver be next? Who is responsible?
The guilty party is not who you would expect - Harry Finn with Homeland Security, the FBI, and Mr. Gray, with the CIA connections all seem to have possible motives.
Oliver Stone was a hit man in his former life - and his name was John Carr. He needs all his experience and total help from his friends, with no reservations, to uncover the mastermind behind this diabolical plot. This is survival of the fittest and the stakes are high - The Camel Club will be changed forever. This novel was just published in November 2007.
