Wild Fire
By  Nelson Demille

Nelson DeMille is back and so is Detective John Corey and his wife, FBI Agent Kate Mayfield.

DeMille has been a favorite author of mine for a long time, but in this novel he  has upped the ante into a plot that would plunge our planet into global war.

The story (we hope its a story)  begins in the Adirondacks in a hunting lodge called  the Custer Hill Club. The members are the rich and famous, from government, the military and business leaders. Supposedly the purpose is to relax, hunt and have fun, but after the tragedy of 9/11 the members seem to have a plan to get even - known as Wild Fire . It is a very secret plan, but when a friend of John Corey's is found dead after a trip to the vicinity of the Custer Hill Club, its time for Corey to do some investigating.

He is now a member of the Federal Antiterrorist Task Force or a special contact agent but as usual it becomes necessary for Corey to follow his nose beyond the parameters of what is allowed by his superiors.

As the plot escalates, he is fortunate to have his FBI Agent wife Kate Mayfield involved. It wasn't easy to convince her to follow his lead, at all costs!

This plan seems fantastic, unbelievable and catastrophic in its scope and would surely make a wild format for a movie. I'm sure any reader will continue to hope it is only fiction, Corey and Mayfield were the main characters in DeMille's Night Fall  -  the ultimate objective of  Wild Fire  is deadly, unreasonable and totally scary. However,Corey's humor injects some reason into this nightmare and DeMille has a new thriller in the book stores in November 2006.
